I had a blast and believe so did everyone else! It was good to see old friends and new faces out on the field. I'm hoping for a good turn out all year.

We have lots in store for the year. For those of you that were unable to make it out to the first game, we completed the 1st of 2 forts on the field. It's on the right side as you walk on. The fort was a big hit, everybody wanted to start on that side. I know the right side has seen the most changes thus far, with the fort, a new 7 ft stand up and a few small bunker updates, but we have plans for the rest of the field as well! It has been talked about in the past, adding a trail on the far side of the field in the woods. It will connect both ends and come out by the large fox hole/soon to be pill box. This will be started in the next couple of weeks as soon as the mower is up and running. We will also be starting soon the fort on the left end, the viewing area for spectators and of course, more bunkers! If anybody knows of where we can get skid/pallets, let us know, we need many to complete the field updates for this year.

I do want to touch on this, and that is the issues with Monster Ball paintballs. There have been complaints of how thick the shell is. They are not breaking on impact. It's almost like shooting a plastic marble. My concern with this is, how long will it be before it will break a lens in a mask and someone gets hurt? One bad thing can destroy a lot! I know of some other fields that have banned Monster Balls, and we have been thinking of that also for the club. I want to do some more research into this issue before the field will make a call on it.

The next game is on May 3rd at noon! I know I can't wait for it! It looks like the season will be every other weekend this year, mostly Sunday games, but we are going to try for some Saturdays as well. If you have any ideas you would like to see at the field, as in bunkers, game play or whatever, let us know! We'll see what we can do.

One last thing, Grimm City Sports representative is on hand at the field for game days. They have gear for sale if needed, will answer questions to the best of their ability, and will help with marker and other gear issues as much as possible. Their web site is not up yet but if you would like to contact them, feel free to send them an email at grimmcitysports@yahoo.com.

Take care and play safe!
Greaper

Jerry a.k.a. Some of you are probably wondering who the heck is this guy? Well for those of you who had attended the last few games, I was the new guy there in the JT jersey. I'll give you all a quick back ground on myself. I'm from the LaPorte area and have been playing paintball since 2000. I used to play and work at Got-ya! paintball in Niles, MI. until they closed in 2003. There I did some gun(marker) tech stuff, reffing, and sales. I played on a small tournament team in 2003 call FM. After they closed, I played at Paintball Heat in Plymouth and some at Sherwood in LaPorte. I took the 2007 season off and started back playing again in '08 at the Tippmann World Challenge at Hell Survivors in MI. So this is me!

To get rolling here, I would like to say Welcome to the 2009 paintball season. I have been keeping in contact with Jason a.k.a. Nightstalker through out the winter. We have been discussing what's up for '09. Well, we have started construction on 1 of the 2 pallet forts we have been talking about. It is located where the high-low was at the east end of the field. We decided to build there because H-L was in need of replacing. If all goes well, which it looks as it is, we will have this one done by the season opener!

With that, it brings me to this. If the weather is looking good our 1st game will most likely be Sunday April 19. I know I can't wait! The rest of the season looks like every other weekend after that. We will get the exact schedule up asap. I am hoping for a night game that starts as soon as its dark but we need to work lots of details out on that. If you are interested in that let us know!

On a little bit of a sad note, there has been some vandalism at the field over the winter. A few things are missing and a couple of things need to be fixed, but we should be ready to go in April. If any one knows who happened to be behind it please let us know.

With that out of the way, I am proud to announce that we will be having a vendor at the games. Grimm City Sports, a new company, has agreed to bring their mobile store to sell supplies on game days. If there is any items you are needing or new gear you want to get, let us know and we will see about them getting it. They will have paint for sale at the field along with other paintball related items. If there is some particular brand of paint you like, and want them to stock it, you can tell us or email them at grimmcitysports@yahoo.com.

I know times are a little rough with the economy and all, but getting out to do something you enjoy is always a plus! Don't let it get you down, because life is too short not to enjoy it. Now that I'm just rambling on about nothing, I would just like to say this. I can't wait to get out and play and meet you all out on the field this season! We will keep you all posted and updated with happenings as soon as we hear about them. So, oil up your markers and blow the dust off your gear, and we'll see all our friends at the field!

Greaper

Jerry a.k.a. Season 2008 went well, and we had a great time. Quite a few new players came out, and we had good times with a few reserved parties. Now the season is over, and I wanted to thank everyone who came out. I know the economy has been bad, and hope things will change in this next year. One thing remains of our operation, we are still the lowest priced in Michiana. If you have your own gear and paint, it's just $10 to play for the day and includes all-day CO2. Those of you who come out already know this, and it won't change.

On that note, I look forward to all of you coming out to have a blast next year. We'll be changing up the field before this next season, and will be adding a few new structures. One new addition will be two 8x8, 8' high single-story pallet forts...one on each side of the field. These will more than likely have a platform inside to step up in, as well as windows in the lower section. This platform will be nice for picking off the enemy at long range, as well as fort-to-fort combat. Of course, to compensate, we will be adding more tall bunkers on the field to make it more difficult for these platform snipers to take you down.

We'll see you on the battlefield in April of 2009!

Jason a.k.a. But first, a recap of last year.

Despite our issues with lawnmowers, missed deadline for building the castle on the field, and an affiliated tournament team/field relationship gone wrong due to lack of team acknowledgment of field rules....I'd say we had a great year. The end of season was particularly awesome. We took lots of great photos and video, to which I'll be using in the making of our multi-DVD compilation of the past few years. We've made a lot of appreciated friends and have been acquainted with many. The donations to the field, both in time helping as well as monetary/material donations, have helped tremendously despite how little it may seem. We take pride in the fact that we are the only "fair play" field in Michiana that won't break your wallet, and that many have expressed to us how much fun they have. So in all, I would like to thank everyone for their support and everything they've added to our mission.

This year we are bringing up a line of products hosting photos and graphics from our field. Yes, we will be building a castle this year, most likely earlier in the year, but will be solely dependent on when we are able to get all the supplies we need. I don't want to put a deadline on it like we did last year, at a bad time. I'm working with a few people, one is a construction company that most likely will be donating some...but we'll see. We have so many photos I'm going to need to start making archive pages for past years to make room for the new photos coming in. We average taking between 50-100 photos per game, and most of them are great photos. Another thing we are doing until the end of the year, we are having a cookout at every game. Cheeseburgers, hot dogs w/chips and drink are available during our games. I also have 2 HPA tanks for rent, for those of you who prefer running HPA.

Since the last post requesting help with finding a mower to replace the bad one, I have managed to find an awesome deal on a rider mower that we are now using and does an awesome job in a fraction of the time. We are also allowing the growth of large patches of trees at various locations on the field to culture more of a woods/field style game. I know a few of you enjoy woods ball more, so in this you'll hopefully get the best of both worlds. Right now these trees are about stomach to chest-height to most people, but these are a type of tree that grow very fast (approximately to 4-5 feet in the first year, and another 2-3 feet in the second year).

The castle game was moved to May 2008 due to lack of building materials and funding for the project. The castle will be complete for a scenario game next year. This will allow us to build it the way we want to build it, and allow your input on what you'd like to see...as well as allow us to get all the pretreated materials, decorations, and equipment needed to do this right and to look awesome. Thanks to my good friend Jason Saylor, shown below in a photo holding his mask, we will be giving away as one of the main prizes an Ariakon hand pistol w/possible extras for that marker. Other team prizes will be awarded, but all prizes (including main prizes) will be awarded based on performance (kills & rate of advancement) and teamwork (supply sharing, communication & group support). As we build the structure and modify the property for this event, we will be posting photos on a special gallery.

We are looking for team involvement on our field. His father has had a mower engine that he was not using for some time and donated it to the field. We were out at the field this week working, I put the engine on with a little bit of rigging, and it worked like a charm. This donation will help keep our property looking nice and keep the bug population down, and so Mr. Kuzmits we are very grateful for your thoughtful donation.

All donations made to our field are put to good use and will help us to expand and improve our field and what we have to offer you. If you have old wood boards and panels, steel tubing, pallets, tires, corrugated plastic, tin, aluminum sheets or tubing, cinder blocks, paintball gear or even monetary donations, please contact us via email (webmaster@libertypaintballclub.com) or my cell (574-220-4033) and let us know. Even if it is something I've not listed here, but you think we might be able to use it, please contact us. We are very intuitive and can probably come up with a use for it.

We've got a game coming up here on Sunday the 24th from 2-8pm. I look forward to seeing everyone out at the field for a good time. Unlike last game, in which I was extremely late to, despite what the tourney boys think...I will be there early! Place your bets now!

Weather looks like it will be about 85F temp and possible rain sometime in the day for Sunday. I'll be out there early, so please contact me at my cell for details on whether we'll be out there. Most likely, unless it is pouring, we'll be out there. We'll have cold drinks available, .50/can and $1/bottle (if bottle available). Make sure to bring your buddies and family. If you have any questions about the field, directions, special group rates, or other pricing, don't hesitate to contact me.

We're gonna have a great time this weekend. We got some awesome pics from this game, which I will be posting soon as I have already posted some video from a practice game. Mark from Twisted Chaos came out, which was cool, as well as my old co-worker also named Jason. Jason's a cool guy with some awesome equipment, and a great shot from what I've seen and personally experienced on the field. I sincerely appreciated his monetary donation to the field, as we are now really needing it to get a new mower. We've had this used high-back 19" push mower for about 2 years now and it finally is dying on us. The gas tank never stayed on after the mounting brackets broke, and the gas tank is plastic that used these brackets. We've tried using string, rope, and now a heavy rubber bungie with S-hooks to strap that tank on. Problem is the vibration finally ate two small holes in the tank, big enough to cause significant fuel loss and a serious potential fire/explosion hazard. So, I've decommissioned the mower and we are dead in the water until I find a way to mow the property. If anyone has any mower donations, that would be awesome. Please contact me at 574-220-4033 if you do and we'll chat about it. I'd like to use the donation I just received, but our equipment needs replacement cup-seals that I found are about $7 per cup seal. To replace these seals on our entire fleet would absorb almost all of this donation, not leaving room for the paint and air we supply. Both issues are a serious concern, the mowing and cup-seals, because without the replacement seals our markers will not fire properly or at all. The mowing, unless you like giving the under-body of your vehicle a weed/grass bath or enjoy chiggers and ticks...we need to get the growth out there under control. I'll think of something!

Please keep in mind our next game is on the 24th of this month! I look forward to seeing everyone out there, since we always have a blast. This year, so far temperature-wise, has been great. It hasn't been to hot to play, unlike last-year's early August game we had to bail from due to the 97 degree temp, before the heat index, and not including the high humidity from the earlier rain and the serious lack of breeze. Three people showed up, including myself, and we all run the field! Stayed 1-1/2 hours and bailed. I see why nobody came, and don't blame them. Don't want heat stroke or cardiacs out there! This year promises to not be hot, so the weatherman says, and if so we'll have an awesome season.

Check out these two photos of my co-worker, Jason, and James and myself. Jason got cyclops'd, James got a full-facial, and I got a partial. Great view, and thanks to those who created (shot us) these awesome images! Gotta love that last split second, when you see the ball a few inches from your face before it messes you up!

Bring your friends and family and come out and have a blast!
