1st off, I'd like to say thanks to everyone that came out on the 19th for the season opener. I had a blast and believe so did everyone else! It was good to see old friends and new faces out on the field. I'm hoping for a good turn out all year.
We have lots in store for the year. For those of you that were unable to make it out to the first game, we completed the 1st of 2 forts on the field. It's on the right side as you walk on. The fort was a big hit, everybody wanted to start on that side. I know the right side has seen the most changes thus far, with the fort, a new 7 ft stand up and a few small bunker updates, but we have plans for the rest of the field as well! It has been talked about in the past, adding a trail on the far side of the field in the woods. It will connect both ends and come out by the large fox hole/soon to be pill box. This will be started in the next couple of weeks as soon as the mower is up and running. We will also be starting soon the fort on the left end, the viewing area for spectators and of course, more bunkers! If anybody knows of where we can get skid/pallets, let us know, we need many to complete the field updates for this year.
I do want to touch on this, and that is the issues with Monster Ball paintballs. There have been complaints of how thick the shell is. They are not breaking on impact. It's almost like shooting a plastic marble. My concern with this is, how long will it be before it will break a lens in a mask and someone gets hurt? One bad thing can destroy a lot! I know of some other fields that have banned Monster Balls, and we have been thinking of that also for the club. I want to do some more research into this issue before the field will make a call on it.
The next game is on May 3rd at noon! I know I can't wait for it! It looks like the season will be every other weekend this year, mostly Sunday games, but we are going to try for some Saturdays as well. If you have any ideas you would like to see at the field, as in bunkers, game play or whatever, let us know! We'll see what we can do.
One last thing, Grimm City Sports representative is on hand at the field for game days. They have gear for sale if needed, will answer questions to the best of their ability, and will help with marker and other gear issues as much as possible. Their web site is not up yet but if you would like to contact them, feel free to send them an email at grimmcitysports@yahoo.com.
Take care and play safe!

What's in store for 2009!
Hey everybody! Some of you are probably wondering who the heck is this guy? Well for those of you who had attended the last few games, I was the new guy there in the JT jersey. I'll give you all a quick back ground on myself. I'm from the LaPorte area and have been playing paintball since 2000. I used to play and work at Got-ya! paintball in Niles, MI. until they closed in 2003. There I did some gun(marker) tech stuff, reffing, and sales. I played on a small tournament team in 2003 call FM. After they closed, I played at Paintball Heat in Plymouth and some at Sherwood in LaPorte. I took the 2007 season off and started back playing again in '08 at the Tippmann World Challenge at Hell Survivors in MI. So this is me!To get rolling here, I would like to say Welcome to the 2009 paintball season. I have been keeping in contact with Jason a.k.a. Nightstalker through out the winter. We have been discussing what's up for '09. Well, we have started construction on 1 of the 2 pallet forts we have been talking about. It is located where the high-low was at the east end of the field. We decided to build there because H-L was in need of replacing. If all goes well, which it looks as it is, we will have this one done by the season opener!
With that, it brings me to this. If the weather is looking good our 1st game will most likely be Sunday April 19. I know I can't wait! The rest of the season looks like every other weekend after that. We will get the exact schedule up asap. I am hoping for a night game that starts as soon as its dark but we need to work lots of details out on that. If you are interested in that let us know!
On a little bit of a sad note, there has been some vandalism at the field over the winter. A few things are missing and a couple of things need to be fixed, but we should be ready to go in April. If any one knows who happened to be behind it please let us know.
With that out of the way, I am proud to announce that we will be having a vendor at the games. Grimm City Sports, a new company, has agreed to bring their mobile store to sell supplies on game days. If there is any items you are needing or new gear you want to get, let us know and we will see about them getting it. They will have paint for sale at the field along with other paintball related items. If there is some particular brand of paint you like, and want them to stock it, you can tell us or email them at grimmcitysports@yahoo.com.
I know times are a little rough with the economy and all, but getting out to do something you enjoy is always a plus! Don't let it get you down, because life is too short not to enjoy it. Now that I'm just rambling on about nothing, I would just like to say this. I can't wait to get out and play and meet you all out on the field this season! We will keep you all posted and updated with happenings as soon as we hear about them. So, oil up your markers and blow the dust off your gear, and we'll see all our friends at the field!
